LuLuLemon Run Club

Throughout high school and college, I always had the company of friends when I was working out. Even though most of this working out consisted of staring at a black line in chlorinated water, I still (secretly) enjoyed making faces at others during practice or gossiping in the 10 seconds we had at the wall.

When I graduated college, I continued to exercise but hated the idea of working out alone. I refused to join a gym in Southern California (the weather is too nice) and felt like I'd be the one huffing and puffing in the back of a running club. For most of the two years, I put in my headphones and ran around my neighborhood by myself.

On Tuesday, I got the courage to head to the Silverlake Resevoir where LuLuLemon was holding its weekly run club. I'm so glad I did. There were 7 people that showed up meaning that someone is bound to run your pace. All of the people were in their mid-20s and just recently moved to Los Angeles. We did yoga for 15 minutes, ran for 30 minutes (one and half loops around the Resevoir) and stretched and ate snacks for the last 15 minutes. Even though we had just met, we had enough to talk about. We talked about our goals, our jobs and I even found out about some running races that were coming up. It was much better than blasting the same playlist through my headphones.

Check out www.lululemon.com to find a store near you and SAY YES to a running club. Most of them hold other community events that are free and fun! It's a great way to break up the week and meet new people!
